Renaud and Gauthier Capuçon’s performances at Notre-Dame Cathedral reopening ceremony • FRANCE 24

France’s iconic Notre Dame Cathedral is formally reopening its doors on Saturday for the first time since a devastating fire nearly destroyed the 861-year-old landmark in 2019. The two brothers Renaud and Gauthier Capuçon, who play the violin and the cello, performed at the beginning of the ceremony.

  1. ¡What a bunch of awful noises from the majestic organ.. . The biggest lost opportunity to promote the organ instrument and its music…. TRUMP almost shouted: "¡Latry: YOU ARE FIRED

  2. My very favorite Christmas gift above all, watching our most beloved music stars busy having fun performing and entertain us fans 🎉❤🎉 heavenly bliss indeed. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year of love for music happenings & let it Notre Dame become a concert hall every weekend because this gorgeous ❤🎉❤I made the list of guests, from my behalf all virtual friends are invited to pay you a visit, enjoy winter holidays in Paris ❤🎉❤

  3. Very moving performance. Grand celebration. The Capuchon Brothers are phenomenal !! But did you have to profane it by showing Donald Trump among the attendees??🤔🙄🙄😒

  4. Thanks for posting. This incredible performance was talked over by NBC reporting. Ugh! It's wonderful to see and hear it without interruption. Beautiful!

  5. I sobbed when I turned on my television and saw this amazing cathedral burning. It brings such joy to my heart to see it now, restored. May multitudes of souls be saved by visiting and worshiping in this sacred place. I say this because many nonbelievers visit it and either meet Jesus or return to Him. May God bless it and keep it forever more. Let it be a symbol of a renewal of faith in France and throughout the world.

  6. Bravo Capucon brothers. Every gorgeous note appreciated. Image arose during the presto of how to outsmart a crook with FH jesters rapidly stringing a cat’s eye to fish in a dish.

  7. If any of you are wondering the performance is Handel's Passacaille from suite no. 7. This piece is famous for allowing players to improvise and make their own variations, since the piece itself is just variations on the original theme. That is why when you listen to the players they don't sound like the exact music written down.
    G. F. Handel – Passacaglia from Suite no. 7 in G minor, HWV 432
