They just got contactless on busses this year, youll probably get new trains in about 2080 at this rate
On a Christmas weekend. Public transport being packed ??? Imagine the surprise.
Some staff have been on here and they’ve made a suggestion for a “hearts and minds” kinda post.
At least they didn’t kick her off at Antrim with a 16 mile cycle home…..
Isn’t the Derry Line the one line in NI that has regular 6 car trains in use?
Expanding the trains to 9 car units would need substantial platform lengthening and at present, half-hourly service is so operationally challenging, that double-tracking is needed.
The problem is that since doing hourly frequency Enterprise services, NIR has effectively run out of spare trains to operate on the lines. 6 trains need to be running Enterprise simultaneously, and with only 3 of the 4 Enterprise coaching sets in service at a time, that means that NIR needs to use 2-4 trainsets to do hourly service, assuming IÉ only runs one of their regular trains on Enterprise.
Big Gerry doesn’t seem to mind standing all that much.
This is fair comment but is any of the demand because of Christmas? I don’t use the line, so to those who do – is it like this all year round?

Edit: I don’t care for votes but I’ll give the benefit of the doubt here and explain this. At Christmas, people want to get around for friends, work do’s, shopping, etc. so demand goes up for transport. So if the train is packed by Ballymena, my question makes sense. If it’s like this all year round, it’s a problem. If it’s just because it’s Christmas, then it isn’t worth millions of quid of new rolling stock for a few weeks in the year. I have a Masters in Cost Benefit Analysis.
For a second I thought that was Spider-Man clinging to the roof!
We need tuktuks
These MLA feckers had the chance to change it for the better and refused because it would maybe benefit themmuns too.
Don’t believe a word from their lying cakeholes
Welcoming in 10s of 1000s of migrants, investing nothing extra in an already failing public transport system, and having a road and rail network ill-equipped for the 21st century. Who could have ever predicted it would lead to travel chaos??
There’s only one way to fix this, make sandwiches free for big John O’Dowd O’Duncan again.
Why the fuck is she posting to us about it, she’s the one that should do her job, and do something about it
She should have just taken the car.
Naomi Long and Nelson McCausland also along for the ride.
