“Russians do not want a war” mantra is getting old. The majority pretty much does, for now it is a fact. Perhaps it will change in a week or two, but right now Russians want this war.
Well, we still got the other half
I imagine they wanted a war they would easily win.
So basically half of Russians support whats going on in Ukraine, wonderful…
CNN surveyed 1000 people? How many people live in Russia.
This war is atrocious but the misinformation and propaganda against Russian citizens is deplorable.
For people who say that Russians want no war, well sure, what monster would actually “want” war in 21 century? It’s like saying Russians not all monsters, which I agree. But let’s not pretend that somehow the 144 million Russians citizens have 0 influence on their president or their government’s decision. Google “Crimea effect” and see how Putin’s support rate jumped due to Russians’ ecstasy seeing their “motherland” expanded with even more territory in 2014. Such a people created such a president, making him believe that doing another invasion will bring even more support. The truth is that the majority of Russians don’t care that much about the suffering of other people and will feel satisfied seeing their country becomes even larger on map, these people must taste the costs of bloody wars started by their motherland
Unfortunately a lot of people say “Russians do not want war” etc. But they never met a Russian…. the Russians are being brainwashed for more than 80 years and a lot of them are “homo sovieticus”. My grandparents met a lot of Russians and one also lived there for 2 years, they told me that they are treated like cattle and they don’t even recognise it
Mind that this poll was published day before full scale invasion
Now make them this question
It would be right to use military to keep Ukraine out of nato even if that means you will starve from hunger and isolated from the whole world? And Tell us the results lol
Maybe a few months of sanctions will change their opinions. Nobody should support war.
If they were against the war, streets would be filled with hundreds of thousands of people for weeks. They are just brainwashed zombies.
If you have an hour to spare, here’s a [fascinating lecture](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF9KretXqJw) on Russia’s “strategic culture” by a former Finnish military intelligence officer (and current university teacher). Remember to turn on the eng subtitles.
Offers a highly interesting insight into how Russians think about their “near abroad” (vassal territories).
Who the …. cares what regular Russian people think when they are indoctrinated, brainwashed by state-owned media?
Unless you are making a study about how many lies can media sell – but then compare to Fox News.
The question was “Do you against spec-operation in Ukraine?
– No;
– Rather, no;
– Yes”
Fuck Levada and VCIOM
Very unsurprising when the government has done everything in its power to paint NATO as the devil for decades. I’m surprised it’s only half.
Good news is that still close to half are not willing to go to war or are unsure about it. Not good enough but still better than expected.
