  1. >The 34-27 private vote in the Steering and Policy Committee is not binding on the full Democratic caucus when it decides the matter, though it is a highly influential vote that will likely determine the winner.

    >The full vote is expected to occur Tuesday morning.

It appears 84 year old Pelosi is still in charge of the party and has successfully blocked Cortez in favor of 74 year old Gerry Connolly, who’s been diagnosed with esophageal cancer. It would take an unprecedented and unexpected change of power within the party for the vote to go the other way after this private vote took place.

  2. Idiots. They lost HARD and they are still unwilling to do changes.

  3. Old people really enjoy fucking things over for the young folks, almost to a fault

  4. Donors don’t want a democrat that will actually help the middle and lower classes

  5. So tired of geriatric politicians, go enjoy time with your grandkids instead of doing this shit.

  6. Fine. Let her cook for a few years and then reap what you sow. Say what you will about AOC but she *truly* understands voter outreach. The Trump/AOC voter call was proof that she is for the people. She will be an integral part of the party going forward and the old guard needs to recognize that (they won’t).

Can a sitting congress member head the DNC? If so, a star is born.

  7. Nancy Pelosi is a fully involved DUMPSTER FIRE 🔥
And you wonder why you lost?? As a lifelong Democrat, I can tell you EXACTLY WHY. And Chuck Schumer what happened to you? I remember when you were just a local politician doing good for the neighborhood.

  8. Honestly, fuck the DNC. We need a workers party, now, more than ever.

  9. Fuck the DNC and these ancient fossilized fuckers.

  10. I was fortunate to be able to retire at 55 and I already felt like a dinosaur. I was delighted to turn my job over to a younger, almost assuredly brighter person.

  11. Very cool, Democrats. Definitly learned the needed lessons from the last election.

  12. ***Connolly*** , 74, has been on the Oversight Committee for the entirety of his 16-year tenure in the House and leaned heavily on that experience to argue that he’s the better fit to push back against Trump and his ambitious second-term policy agenda. Last month, Connolly announced he’s been diagnosed with esophagus cancer, but he began treatment immediately and has been participating in votes and other events around the Capitol.

***Ocasio-Cortez***, 35, a six-year veteran of Capitol Hill, has said  that it is time for a new generation of younger Democrats to take the reins and refresh the party with new ideas. That argument builds on her primary victory in 2018 over former Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.), a caucus chair thought to be in line for the Speakership.

While a recommendation from the Steering and Policy Committee usually predicts how the full caucus will vote, that’s not always the rule, and it is not the final word. The final word comes from the full House Democratic Caucus, which is scheduled to vote Tuesday in a secret ballot that will decide which Democrat will replace the outgoing ranking member of the Oversight panel, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.).

The Steering and Policy panel is headed by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and is packed with leadership allies. District constituents can email his office and share their concerns [here.](https://jeffries.house.gov/contact/email-me/) If you don’t reside in his district, you can contact his office [here.](https://democraticleader.house.gov/contact) Find your local representative [here](https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative) and share your opinion ahead of Tuesday’s vote!

  13. Goddamnit, I’m so tired of Pelosi constantly pulling strings to keep progressives from having any power in the party.

  14. This shit is so infuriating. Like, Dems, wake the fuck up already. This shit is t working. We have another wasted four years of damage coming because Pelosi and others can’t just let go and let youthful people take over.

  15. Lifelong Democrat here… I’ve been wishing for her to quit politics for over a decade now… she’s fucking toxic to everything most Dems stand for.

  16. Where is Jefferies? Why is he ok with Pelosi pulling shit like this?

  17. This just tells me Democrats have learned nothing and will continue to lose the next federal election.

  18. He’s old and has cancer, can he just go do something fucking else and let AOC do her thing?

    Ugh fuck off geriatrics.

  19. Maybe when Aoc reaches 74 years old she can finally get a leadership role.

  20. There’s an episode of Star Trek where the crew happens upon an intelligent species who is doing great for themselves, but it is later found that all members of the species are expected to suicide at age 60. When I saw it at age 15, I thought it was barbaric.

Now I think they had something figured out there.

  21. Yes let’s pick the 74 year old with throat cancer over a young, highly motivated and popular woman.

  22. Isn’t she the one who pushed Joe Biden out because he’s too old??? (I am absolutely simplifying the whole thing but point still stands) Get a fucking GRIP Nancy and read THE FUCKING ROOM !!!

  23. Really makes it hard to support democrats. Also easy to see why they can’t get people to vote

  24. If we had term and age limits Pelosi herself wouldn’t even be serving STILL. The way she has clung to power to continue her insider trading is disgusting.

  25. Old democrats holding onto power and commiting to the “it’s my turn” bullshit has been an unmitigated disaster since Obama left office.

Judges, congress, senate, presidential elections. All bad.

  26. I’ve been saying his for a very long time now, folks.

The 1% own both parties completely…except a handful of progressives.

Pelosi is not a progressive. She’s a Reagan Republican who hides it by focusing on social issues (which Americans actually overwhelmingly agree on already). But her *financial* marching orders come from the 1%, so does her own money, and she is one of the 1% thanks to the insider stock trades that all American politicians do.

If you’ve been paying attention and have now figured this out, then you knew what was going to happen here and how this was going to play out…as I did.

The 1% will do anything to make sure AOC does not become the next Obama or (a younger) Bernie Sanders. Those men got too close to putting America back on track towards becoming a civilized nation that appropriately taxes the 1% to help the lives of 99%.

So, for the last three elections, the rich have made sure we the people had the “choice” between tax cuts for the rich and maintaining the status quo tax rates/loopholes of the rich.

    And they’ve won every time…

  27. The federal healthcare they receive for free is too good because these old fucks are living too far past their life expectancy.

  28. I hate MAGA. I hate what it has done to families. And I hate Trump. But fucking hell. The DNC leadership is to blame 100% for this last fail. And the fact that they think changing nothing and keeping their old asses in charge and not looking to the youth is just as bad as the GOP doing the same. They would rather watch the country be in the hands of MAGA and Trump than for them to lose their power.

  29. Connolly is my congressman and he is great, but ffs Leadership does not need to look like a 70-something white man! I’ve voted for him in every election since 1996, and that, right there says it all! 28 years with no discernible legislative wins from his office.

  30. Never seen democrats fight nearly as hard as they do against one of their own

    We’re cooked

  31. Pelosi will be the death of the Democratic Party . People are leaving because of her
