Mythical Beasts of Great Britain

  1. Good to see Black Shuck on there .. there are a few different tales as to where he strolls .. but used to live in a coastal town and he was reputed to roam the beaches after a storm … just dont look into his eyes innit … never did see him …

  2. The Green Children of Woolpit were historical, probably the survivors of a massacre of Flemish immigrant weavers by a xenophobic English mob.

  3. Haha. I don’t think I’ve seen him described as the Wrekin Giant before, though it’s hard to argue with it. The legend goes he accidentally created the Wrekin when giving up on drowning Shrewsbury, and then stormed off back home.

  4. Ahhh love this. We need more celebration of our strange old myths and legends (that aren’t in massively expensive books that I’ve wanted for ages)

  5. Is this for sale please? I would love to print, frame and display on the wall in my living room!

  6. Sad to see Wales boiled down to two. Where’s Tegid the Afanc? Bwbachod, ader llwch gwin, y tylwyth têg, cewri, cwn annwn, Bendigeidfran (since you have non-animals in Ireland too)! And many many more-especially sad to see such general ignorance of their quite distinct culture

  7. Never knew the Celtic Sea was a thing. I always thought that body of water was just a mixture of the Irish sea and the Atlantic
