Convenience store giant McColl’s scrambles to stave off collapse

  1. Being massively overpriced to an almost hilarious level tends to drive customers away.

Obviously these type of stores are always more expensive but Premier, Londis etc all seem to balance paying a small premium for convenience without ripping their customers off, the same cannot be said for McColls.

  2. There’s a McColls near me. It’s so expensive it doesn’t make any sense. I don’t really understand people who goes there to shop. Low stock, high prices. 5 min walking away you have a small Tesco. Still expensive but so much cheaper.

  3. McColls/Martin’s had been going downhill for a long time. There is no point to them anymore. Stock quality and quantity is shit.

  4. There’s a McColl’s near my grandparents. It’s so expensive that you might as well walk to ALDI and pay a quarter of the price, or Waitrose and pay slightly less and get a better product.

I feel bad for the folks who will lose their jobs when this place ploughs itself into the ground over the owners arrogance.
