I miss the days of going to Namco Funscape and having fun. It's a real shame nowdays there isn't any alternative for something similar to Namco Funscape in Central London

  1. There’s one in Romford though if you fancied a trip very far east

  2. Oh is that gone now? I went there on a sober date-night when I was pregnant. That kid is 6 now.

  3. Mine and my husband’s first proper date was here. I hadn’t realised it has closed ☹️

  4. Religiously. I used to be in the Wonder Park prior to that on the opposite side of Shaftesbury Avenue to the Trocedero (before they turned it into a fucking bar). I used to hold some of the Lap Records on one of the Namco 500GP bike games. Me and one of the workers traded times before finding out who each other was one evening. I was also responsible for having very bad AI on one of the Soul Calibur 2 machines (as I’m rubbish at fighting games despite completing Tekken 5 at that arcade – Metropolis from memory? – near Greek Street in Soho). Fun times.

  5. Best bumper cars in the country. No supervision, smash all and sundry as often as you could and if the guy was chatting a girl up you’d get 20minutes for 2 quid!

  6. As someone who loves driving and shooting games, but isn’t big into ticket machines I found it hit and miss. They did have a pair of 2 Spicy cabs for a while, which is probably one of rarer machines I’ve had the pleasure of playing.

  7. Sorry but – who remembers fours years ago? Yeah I do. I recall that. It was fairly recent

  8. Such a shame these places don’t really exist anymore. I really hope Las Vegas in Soho manages to keep its doors open.

  9. It took a lot of prize tickets to get anything decent, think i got a toy car after spending a small fortune 😄

  10. I got mugged at knifepoint in the McDonald’s next to it. Middle of the day

  11. OMG I can’t believe this shut down. Used to go with the kids every year and dropped thousands over the years on the dodgems, loads of other games then bowling and (admittedly not great) food and drink. We didn’t know it had shut until turning up to find nothing there after the McDonald’s entrance. Kids were not impressed!

  12. Went there on a corporate night out and all the machines were on free play – what a night

  13. All the people in this thread not knowing that it shut down kind of explains why it did

  14. Me and my mate used to go to it when it was in Piccadilly in the mid/late 90s. Can’t remember exactly where it was. Think I might have one of the tickets you won on the games somewhere.

Used to go Trocadero as well. There was always mad rumours about people getting robbed. Thankfully, we didn’t but always got stopped by the old bill (a lot of runaways used to head to Piccadilly back then).

  15. Was in it before COVID while visiting London, reminded me a bit of Segaworld in the trocadero back in the 90s, was awesome.

  16. Oh wow is that what it was called?! I inadvertently took my parents in there once.

  17. Got kicked out of the bowling alley there for making out with my now wife. Worth it.

  18. I think I went for the first time just before it closed and I remember thinking ‘I should come here often!’ 🙁
