2. Jolani & his guys should see about keeping positive relations and local military assets with Russia in exchange for them sending Assad down south back to Damascus to answer for this. Assad’s value to Russia is as someone who keeps Syria aligned w Moscow on key issues. He’s failed once before, but everyone deserves a second chance! Maybe this time he can do it as an offering to the Syrian people.

   Or maybe Russia dangles this possibility as a way to get more out of either party? Could work, but it could be more expensive than just cutting their losses and accidentally misplacing a dictator for half a day.
