  20. The septuagenarian Democratic leadership seems quite content with the status quo. They’re fine with losing, they’re fine with acquiescing to Trump – even agreeing with some of his policies. What they don’t want is to give up their cushy seats, which gives them access to money and power. They’re not representing us, they’re representing their pocketbooks.

  21. The mainstream dems are horrible at messaging and refuse to elevate other dems who can message like AOC or Bernie. If they just blamed all our problems on oligarchs (which is at least partially true), then they could connect foreign and domestic policy in ways that actually help people.

  22. Pelosi is a smart lady, but she and every old politician is holding onto a legacy that no longer is grounded in reality. She and many others need to retire. Both parties have the same problem. It’s just that Trump can carry a lot on fame and sensationalism. Democrats have no equivalent. They have no such luxury. The old need to step down and get out of the way.

  24. Speaker Pelosi was a hell of a force in her time. Pushed through a lot of legalization that directly helped millions of Americans. Regularly ran a clinic on getting things through the House by having the votes before anything hit the floor. And shoutout to the 2018, 8-hour speech about dreamers at 77 years old to force a vote on immigration. And that’s only the recent memory of a decades long career.

    So I say this with a genuine and profound respect: Get the fuck out of the way. Please.

  25. The one (minority) Democrat who ranks on that one committee isn’t actually a huge deal. It’d be a nice signal for it to be AOC but it’s ultimately not that meaningful.

  26. She doesn’t want AOC to move up either because of stubbornness/hate or because she’s getting paid to prevent that. Or both. Either way, the Democrats will never win with her there. They have already lost my vote

  28. My biggest issue with the progressive dem caucus is that they’ve been far too willing to play along and placate the corporate wing of the dems while they just keep getting screwed over. The progressive caucus should be an aggressive insurgency into the Democratic Party.

  29. Pelosi is a big reason why we have the ACA now. I will always give her credit for that and for supporting Obama during that time. But that was then. This is now. The politics game is changed. Everything is different. Pelosi needs to retire.

  40. I respected her, somewhat, right up until she voted against a bill that would stop politicians from trading stocks. She’s almost as bad as Trump. She’s just obviously a LOT more eloquent. I am so tired of corporations running things. These mother fuckers on both sides don’t represent the will of the people. America needs a revolution. It’ll never happen now. It’s pacified and severely under-educated/misinformed.
