   It’s a thought experiment not an actual proposal. It isn’t possible to build it, it would cost $3.5 trillion at least, but interesting all the same. 11,000,000 TWh/year, 2600x what the entire US currently uses.

4. Whoa, slow down. We can’t put the entire energy grid on top of a volatile supervolcano. That’s where we keep all the highly endangered animals right now.
