French actor Adèle Haenel storms out of child abuse trial • FRANCE 24 English

A French prosecutor Tuesday demanded a filmmaker be put under house arrest for two years over sexually assaulting an actor when she was a child, after his accuser stormed out of the landmark trial over him denying the abuse. Adele Haenel, 35, has accused filmmaker Christophe Ruggia, 59, of assaulting her in the early 2000s when she was between 12 and 14 and he was in his late 30s, allegations he has called “pure lies”.

  1. Only FIVE YEARS for a sentence, if convicted???!! France (the whole world, really) needs to lock these predators up for life! She is very brave for coming forward though she should not have to be retraumatised through the court system.

  2. Just to be clear : during his testimony, Ruggia had the audacity to say that Adèle was "initiating it" and "trying to seduce him". She was 12. How vile, how low can you get ? Pig.

  3. It must be hard for her to face this person again, all nightmares must rush back, it must be hard also because she is in this country which loves Polanski.

  4. Sexual assault in a world where men feel entitled to anything and everything they want, make the rules, excuse and titillate each other with stories of what they got away with, how they intimidate someone younger, smaller and with less power. Never protecting a female.
Never caring that you give your victims nightmares, ruin chances of healthy relationships and living to one’s potential. Why do men just take, never protect, never act civilized?

  5. Many governments have a rich history of protecting p3dos, America and the UK are some of the worst offenders. Didn’t know France was up there, too. Sad.

  6. FRANCE 24 – you need to know that this video title is inaccurate and misogynistic. The definition of storming out is 'to leave a place in a way that shows you are angry' , for instance by slamming a door. Ms Haenel has calmly walked out, likely because she was feeling overwhelmed and needed a break. This is an important distinction to make.

Please change the title of this video, and pay closer attention to the language you use in future cases involving victims of abuse. If you do not, then you are causing harm to them, and to other victims of abuse.

  7. What a terrible thing he did to that ( at the time ) very young actress , but I have to ask where were her parents ? Also why did the crew say they were uncomfortable watching what happened to her on the set only now , why did no one protect this young actress at the time . I have seen a couple of scenes from the film , and I can’t believe that a parent would stand by and let their daughter do scenes like that , and what about her young co star how is he now.

  8. House arrest? Is there a special punishment scale for "cultured people". What punishment would he have received if he was a taxi driver?

  9. Not shocking, because somehow the French film industry is even more pedophilic than Hollywood is and the criminals face even less justice. Still sad for her.

  10. France 🇫🇷🤦🏻⚖️… what is happening to based morality in the COUNTRY…the husband that drugs his wife and has friends freely SA her?! The opening vulgar display of the 2024’ OLYMPICS…now this. Praying for the CONSERVATIVE FRENCH PEOPLE. Get this COURT DECISION RIGHT !!

  11. "Storms out"?

Learn and give respect & credit where it's appropriate.

There's rapists out there screaming terrible things & promoting abusive behavior, that don't even get labeled as such.

And you're gonna falsely claim this composed adult in an unfavorable position, is "storming out"??
As if in a disrespectful rage??

SHAME on you. You're indirectly siding with the rapist. Intolerable.

  12. The judicial system around the world is a joke! His sentence isn't enough to punish him by Adèle's lifetime trauma.

I only hope that Adèle finds peace and justice one day.
