Of race and war: What the crisis in Ukraine tells us about ourselves

  1. Ukraine crisis tells me that Ukraine is practically on my home turf whatever the skin or hair color of the people there have. Ukrainians also share a load of culture and values with me and have somewhat similar kind of worldview.

    Other conflicts are further away and people fleeing them likely can find it easier to settle in a society close to their original home.

    It’s like my neighbors house burning down vs. someone’s house in New Zealand.
