  1. I’m in Bexley. I am also not surprised at the rating on this list. Boooooo.

  2. I’ve moved from near the bottom to the middle

    Can confirm much happier

  3. Last time I went back to Dagenham someone’s staffie jumped up and knocked a chip butty out of my hand.

    Can confirm was miserable.

  4. I live 5 minutes from this pictured location.

Guess it’s something to be happy about (Richmond riverside is indeed a splendid place).

  5. It’s probably a proxy for age distribution. Young people and old people are happier than the middle aged.

  6. I’ve moved from No.2 to No.18, bordering No.33. Reason is that I moved from living with my mum in a housing association flat to buying my own house.

  7. It’s not that bad here at 33 🙁 good schools, after school groups, green space, local shops and transport links.

Admittedly just don’t go out to certain places after 7pm.

Also good fish n chips around here.

  8. Lived in #1 for my first year of London and #2 for my next 9 years, and I have to say I was happier in #2 (but I was prefer being in more of a city environment).

  9. It’s voting on a scale of 10. A true Londoner would never give more than a 6.

  10. I wish I didn’t have to post this… People saying that the more “diverse” areas are the least happy are just totally wrong tbh. I have friends in these areas from all types of backgrounds and they’re some of the happiest people I’ve ever known.

As a Richmond resident I know for a fact that we’d be even happier with increased diversity — it’s something me and my wife been hoping for for the last 5 years to be honest.

I’ve been emailing my local MP about this issue, but sadly it doesn’t seem like they’re remotely interest in helping to amplify cultural osmosis.

  11. I am shocked at the following 3 things:

    1. How is Waltham Forest higher than Islington
    2. How is Tower Hamlets higher than Enfield

Like I feel like that Waltham Forest + Enfield should be both nearer the middle, they are both not that good / not that bad, delete at appropriate.

    Obviously the 3rd thing is:

    3. How on earth Croydon make it so high on the list?

  12. Bromley 6th is good. Not surprising either, I like living here, good parks, good libraries and some good pubs too.

  13. Out of everywhere I went in London last year Kensington/Holland Park was my favorite place. They had opera in the park.

  14. Grew up in the bottom and moved to number 28. Things are on the up!

  15. I used to live at #2.

Kensington and Chelsea is one of the happiest because it’s the richest, that’s for sure.

  16. Can confirm Dagenham, although Enfield is very close

  17. Just came to say Croydon at the bottom? Accurate. Would’ve thought Greenwich ranked higher, top 15 for sure.

  18. “Happiness“ measured by a range of statistics needs a different name which does not conflate it with Happiness the emotion. Perhaps “Locality Well-Being Co-Factors For General Living Conditions Quality as Compared Against Other Locatipn”?

    To quote Anna Karina:

    >**“All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”**

  19. It would be interesting to compare this to council tax paid

  20. Not sure what people’s problem with Croydon is. I live there and I’m perfectly happy and don’t quite see what makes it second from bottom.

  21. Damn… Hillingdon ranked way lower than I would have thought
