It's not the same 😭

  1. That drink was originally launched in the Helsinki summer olympics 1952

  2. You also went home to a country with over 9,500 craft breweries. I’d gladly trade Long Drink for some Hill Farmstead.

  3. It’s not that bad.

Best I’ve found is using Trader Joe’s gin (Admiral Joseph’s) along with Pellegrino grapefruit soda.

~2oz gin to one 12oz can of soda and you get pretty decently close to the real lonkero flavor.

  4. You can get the Finnish version in America too, but I actually think the American version is pretty good. It’s not the same, but it shouldn’t be the same either.

I brought an assortment of Long Drinks back from Finland and did a taste test with my American friend. Our absolute favorite was the Helsinki Distillery Long Drink.

  5. The Hartwell Original is a bit better than the American Long Drink. I think it’s a bit less sweet and has a smoother flavor. I’ve done several side by side comparisons now.

Unfortunately, I will be moving out of a state that Hartwell is available in… I’m sad about it but at least I won’t have to mix my own 😂

  6. The American version is too much like syrup. Hartwall or nothing.

I had an American customer before leaving Finland buy the largest suitcase he could, stuff it full of Lonkero, and took it home as “nothing to declare” at customs. His supply lasted a week.
