  1. This article is almost a year old. Not relevant

  2. This is an article from January. They haven’t run out of barrels yet…

  3. One day, Russia will have barrels, and nothing left to put them on, lol

  4. I think I’ve read this article 6 times over the last three years.

  5. Tl;dr: 2026 is a critical year for several weapons systems of the Russian army.

Let’s just hope that either this war ends in a good way for Ukraine before that or that the support of the west will carry Ukraine into Russian exhaustion.

  6. If I got a Cent every time russia is running out of something or its economy is collapsing, I would be able to donate a lot of money to UAF to win!

  7. # Russia receives newly produced artillery from North Korea.

*North Korea delivers outdated D-74 122mm howitzers to Russia due to heavy artillery losses in Ukraine.*

  8. Or they could have all the barrels and shells in the world but no carriage to mount the barrel.

  9. The article doesn’t say what caliber the towed artillery is. A lot of the original 12k pieces in storage were not 122mm or 152mm which are the ones needed for the SP arty. Also even if the correct caliber then some don’t match the correct breach size etc… to fit in an SP gun.

  10. # Russia has problems with newly produced artillery and ammunition from North Korea. The artillery from North Korea is not worn in and gets stuck.

*Defence forces: The quality of North Korean weapons is causing serious issues for Russian forces*

*Russian forces on the Kharkiv front are actively using munitions and personnel recruited from North Korea. However, the quality of North Korean weapons is causing serious issues, which are already significantly affecting their combat capability.*

*This was stated by Officer Volodymyr Chernyak of the 4th Rapid Reaction Brigade “Rubizh”, in a broadcast on the national telethon.*

*According to him, the munitions Russia received from North Korea often explode in the barrel’s channel or immediately after firing, resulting in significant losses of artillery equipment.*

*He added that radio intercepts confirm numerous complaints from the Russian forces regarding these malfunctions.*

  11. I will never believe these articles again. In the first year of the war, Russia was supposed to run out of arty shells, gas, tanks, men, ammunition, Mosin Nagants, whatever. It’s all bullshit. They are rolling tanks in, throwing North Koreans at the Ukrainians, they are gaining territory, and killing Ukrainians.

Russia is clearly putting all their resources to this war and they aren’t running out of shit. Never believe these articles until the Russians really run out of shit.

  12. Oh look, a Forbes article that was full of shit. What a surprise! /s

  13. As Perun has mentioned, it’s mainly the 90’s/80’s SPG / huge calibre barrel arty stock that was refurbished first.
What is left is mainly towed arty, 80’s, 70’s and older.
That’s half a century old stuff, on average.

Not saying that Russia doesn’t have a lot but I don’t see them training in ‘shoot and scoot’ effectively.
Closer range towed arty looks like a different ball game imo, from my armchair that is.

  14. Is there any reason the Russians can’t just get barrels from NK to go along with all the ammo they’re getting?

  15. It also assumes Russia cares that their artillery is accurately fired – bad assumption.

  16. This article is old, but ‘Ukraine the Latest’ podcast covered this topic a couple days ago and it is very relevant to reduced shelling of late.

  17. Russia is running out of time too. Each day is one less day to Ukrainian victory.
