  1. I hope the plans come together to silence the NIMBYs, we need loads more houses everywhere.

  2. I think we should increase regulation and tax to drive more landlords out of the rental sector and make them want to sell their rental properties to owner occupiers.

That will help cut rents…maybe not then?

  3. We should make it even riskier for landlords to rent out. This ought to solve it

  4. They doubled in my area. Food prices doubling was also somehow only a 10% rise.

  5. Surely this can’t go on….there has to be a point where not enough people can afford the prices…..surely

  6. Population is growing to quickly due to excessive immigration. This is one of the negative effects.

  7. when is this going to stop? We don’t know. How will it end? Tent cities

I remember a few weeks on another thread, there was an EU national living in the UK who said ‘you English people have this stiff upper lip mentality and don’t like to complain, but you are being slowly boiled alive like lobsters’

    Such an interesting take

  8. Hmm adding a million people to the population causes rents to rise who would’ve guessed….

  9. > Andrew Montlake, managing director at mortgage broker Coreco, said: “Renting is nothing short of brutal. You have to feel for the UK’s tenants as rents are rising at an astronomical and unsustainable rate.”

    Can’t pay. Live away 🙁

  10. Yet we’re told that similar rent rises in Scotland are completely down to the Scottish Government’s rent controls…

  11. We are literally at the point where it’s cheaper to save up money to buy a property and then pay a mortgage, than it is to rent.

Of course the problem is saving up the money for the down payment in the first place.
