*McGovern (31) earlier admitted wilfully ill-treating and neglecting the boy to his severe injury, permanent impairment and to the danger of his life. She previously faced an accusation of attempting to murder the child.*
*McGovern, latterly of Haddington, in East Lothian, also admitted attempting to defeat the ends of justice.*
*Lord Young said she has suffered from clinical depression and anxiety linked to low self esteem for many years but has made “great strides” towards getting her life together.*
*A hair sample revealed that the youngster was exposed to drugs from late June 2022. Mr Cameron said: “It is not possible to say with any greater precision when that exposure was nor in what quantity.| The findings were, however, consistent with exposure on more than one occasion.”*
*A substance was also found which gave a possible indication that the child was also exposed to highly addictive crack cocaine.*

To drug that poor boy with cocaine and alcohol is bad enough, but to psychologically torture and neglect him by leaving him in the woods when he has drugs in his system is just incomprehensible. And for him to have head and chest injuries, a lack of oxygen to the brain and a fractured ankle?! He didn’t do that to himself now, did he!!!

The boy was given drugs (possibly *crack*) and alcohol, abandoned in the middle of nowhere with no food or water, unsuitable clothing, had injuries to his chest and neck, and a *brain injury* and she is spared a custodial sentence? She got around the same sentence as myself who got caught with 4 plants in veg and a few ozs in the cupboard. Prosecution wanted 10 yrs for street dealing i got a huge fine and 200 hours of work with a 12 month suspended sentence. She should have been put in the firing line there is absolutely no justification for her actions. Iv done coke pills sniff etc smoked weed my whole life the only issues iv had is lack of water and a fight with the fridge. She is 100% at risk to the public especially anyone who is close to her because she just had a moment, wtf is a moment lol sorry I smashed that babies skull in I had a moment that day.. worlds gone fuckin crazy especially this country its run my pedos and the people are fine with that… says it all really we’ve only got ourselves to blame for letting it happen. Used to be such a strong willed population but sadly nobody got any bollocks left now everyone iust follows

Hang on, so not only did she drive the child out the countryside herself. She then called the police to report him missing and wasted all those resources searching for a child she knew the location of and she still walks away without a prison sentence?
The Scottish justice system is even more fucked than England and Wales.

Seems like the attempted murder charge was dropped for a guilty plea on the much lesser charge of wilful ill-treatment, I’m not familiar with Scottish law, but a brief search seems this offence was drafted to deal with caregivers who abuse those in their care. A lot of rehabilitation credit is being taken into account for this first time offender.
Irrespective of her drug issues, her behaviour could have recklessly led to the death of this child.
I find the sentence unduly lenient.
Someone who doesn’t pose a risk to the public? Is the judge on crack?
Utterly insane. Who Tf are our judges and court officials allowing this to wash with little regard to justice?
This should have a retrial.
