  1. That’s actually pretty cool, sorry for not whinging about the government…

  2. It’s definitely faster to build, but is it cheaper to build & heat?

  3. Those who complained about that big Dáil printer have egg on their faces now, I presume, I haven’t read the article.

  4. Wow these look great. We need to scale this up if the houses are good quality. Could be a really game changer

  5. Fuck yeah!

I want one, but the wife says I’m not allowed get a 3d printer cause i’ll be printing loads of tat, like the random wiggly worms and the boat and a house…

  6. Ya it’s easy buy the printer it’s replacing the concrete cartridges. Thats where they get ya.

  7. The walls are far from the most expensive part of house construction.
What is the saving with this method of construction.

  8. Brilliant, what’s the cost to a consumer I wonder

  9. Our genius government at work lads. What happens when it rains?

  10. Fair enough, but they only built three houses.

Are we going to be able to scale technology like this to build the tens of thousands of homes that we need? How much cheaper is it than a traditional house?

The printer only does concrete walls. All other trades – roofing, plumbing, joinery, etc – still need to be done manually

  11. Hope O Snodaigh doesn’t run away with the ink….I mean cement

  12. My construction knowledge is limited to watching grand designs. Would factory built modular homes not be a much more efficient way to build homes en masse?

  13. What’s the story with having two small windows in what’s likely the living room instead of one big one?

But intriguing process nonetheless. Would be amazing if they were able to use the same printer with sustainable building materials like hempcrete

  14. They always catch you with price of the ink cartridges though

  15. Use it to print 1000 more 3D printers and we’re sorted.

  16. It’s all fun and games until you have to clear a House Jam.

  17. These were built right outside my nanny’s front door. Was interesting watching them go up. Didn’t take any less time than the brick and mortar ones built in the next street over. Still cool though.

  18. Can’t wait for these to start spouting: “Out of ink” when it’s still half full.

Or “Ink not compatible with printer, please only use ink from stupidOverpricedInkStore.com”

Or “Printer not connected to WiFi”

Or “Please register your printer and pay xxxxx for a subscription renewal to be able to print”

    God I hate printers…
