MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Santa Claus visited Marquette this week.
He was at Marquette-Alger RESA Wednesday and Thursday to listen to what kids want for Christmas and take pictures in a sensory-friendly environment. The events included activities, snacks, access to a calming room and individual family time with St. Nick.
Santa says special-needs kids have loved the opportunity to meet him without overwhelming distractions like big crowds and loud noises.
“It’s been incredibly well-received,” Mr. Claus said. “Families are so appreciative of the opportunity. For many of the students, it’s been their first opportunity to interact with Santa.”
This is MARESA’s second annual sensory-friendly Santa event and the organization has no plans to stop offering it to the community.
