  1. You never see a doctor or a engineer owning an xl bully 🤔

  2. The problem with her statement is this… There ARE no responsible XL owners!

The mere fact of owning one show you’re irresponsible…

  3. The issue was the naming of the breed that is classified as XL bully, wasn’t it?

  4. Didn’t one of these eat their owner during coitus and they banned the breed?

  5. Why the fuck do people want to own a dog that is bred for fighting as a ‘pet’.

The people that own these sorts of dogs have them as a status symbol.

  6. Since the ban was introduced and they launched this appeal, there had been six more attacks by XL bullies on humans that have resulted in death or serious injury. The last one only last week.

    Of course the appeal lost.

  7. Very selfish people. Same sort of people that buy crap from Temu

  8. How long before her, her partner or someone else gets bitten by that fucking thing.

  9. She looks like sort of person who ends up eaten by her own bullies

  10. I disagree with the sentiment of this thread, while I agree dogs can be dangerous, I don’t agree that banning is the answer.

How about we bring in licenses for pet ownership? You should be able to prove you’re responsible and animal training should be mandatory. This ensures we’re taking proper care of our animals and that money can go towards all kinds of useful things.

There are no bad dogs, just bad owners.

  11. For me, it was reading about that poor dog walker that got killed by her own XL that changed my mind. If these dogs are dangerous for professional dog handlers, they are not safe for the public to own.

  12. People gonna hate me for this, but I live and breathe dogs. Have done my entire life.

I worked for a police impound kennels in 21/22. (Before the XLs were added). We saw plenty of dogs of all shapes and sizes come in due to seriously hurting people. And what was the common denominator for serious injury to a human adult? Size.
The other denominator was….chronically neglected and abused dogs.

Akitas, german shepherds, huskies, mastiffs, malinois, and all kinds of inbetween mixes.

Bullies (of all sizes) went through a HUGE population boom in and after Covid – as did sausage dogs, frenchies, and a few other breeds. Consequently, people bred them to make money. Drug lords and smaller dealers bred them to help cover their drug businesses.

The dog breeding epidemic has become a dog behaviour epidemic. The number one cause for rehoming a dog is now behaviour issues. NOT financial hardship or change of circumstance.

I have known SO many pitbull type dogs and XL bullies (yes, even ones that were seized by Police) and I still chose to adopt 2 of them.

I know as a reddit comment (and reddit seems to hate nuance) this will get downvoted.

But maybe enough of you will read this comment and think:

“heck. Maybe randomly killing thousands of dogs and not actually changing the human-centric precursors to why this happened is setting us up for the issue to continue”…..

I dont hold out hope for a change to Section 1. But I have to hold out hope that someday the people who are supposed to legislate for public safety (aka Our Government) will actually legislate appropriately for the dog bite epidemic.

  13. These people are morons.

During the last 20 years if a fatal dog attack happened there was over 50% chance for it to involve at least 1 XL bully.

Then you realise how comparatively few XL bullies are compared to other large dog breeds.

American Bulldogs were breed as fighting dogs and all XLs are descended from 2 dogs that had well documented aggression issues.

An entire line of extra large, powerful fighting dogs with documented aggression issues, that you are significantly more likely to be killed by than any other breed, but sure “my dog is super friendly so they shouldn’t be banned”

  14. There is no such thing as a responsible XL bully owner. Anyone who is responsible wouldn’t own a killing machine in the first place.
