Seems like he got his act together, entered a plea early and wasn’t found to be a danger to the child. Suspended sentence was probably the best course.

He went to the Garda station and reported that he couldn’t find his car with the child inside. He was extremely distressed in the Garda station. He moved out of the family home as well afterwards as the mother wouldn’t let him in as he was a liability. Read this is the IT a few weeks ago

He was drink and drug driving with an infant in the car. And then abandoned the baby.
2 year suspended sentence seems a bit low. What about the driving offences too? Maybe a custodial sentence isn’t warranted here, but some community service or something. That child could have died, and the lifesaving search needed every available guard in Dublin and Meath – taking them away from their other work that night.
And what was up with the neighbours that they just drove him around for a few hours playing hide and seek looking for the lost car and baby? If any neighbour were to knock into me with a story like that I’m phoning the guards straight away
“defendant presented to the garda station in a very upset and distressed state and described his child as his whole world.”— didn’t give that much of a fuck if he left her to nearly freeze to death the pathetic waster.

None of you are going to like this, but it has to be said that if a mother had done this, everyone would be calling for her to have the children taken from her and suffer some sort of punishment. This “ah sure he’s a good lad and he’s gotten his act together now” wouldn’t fly for a woman.
The bar is so disgustingly low for fathers that you can commit several acts of gross negligence (DUI with a baby as a passenger and abandonment) and people will still give you the benefit of the doubt.
I believe in rehabilitation for drug addicts, but there is no way this man should be allowed anywhere near that child until it’s old enough to walk and talk. He has proven himself to be a grave danger to her.
Any old dirtbag can have a child here and yet we need a license for a dog 😂🤣
