This is my main worry.
How in the age of modern warfare do you take a city that has a well equipped population? This has as far as I can tell never been done without literally blowing each building up one by one.
The closest we have is maybe Iraq? But that was the US and UK (best equipped armies on earth) and a population not all that fond of the government. It is entirely feasible in a few days Russia realise it is pack up and go home or start killing thousands of civilians and I think Putin will choose the latter.
