    And from the source it says they put out a fatwa reinforcing the sanctity of life (deciding not to pull the plug on braindead children).

  4. We need to stop this from ever happening again. No religion should be used to decide on the actions or inactions to be taken. The fact that we still have religious leaders in the House of Lords gives credence to religious rulings in other areas and that is where we should have the first step at removing the influence of religion from any form of public life – the removal of the bishops etc.. from the Lords. We should also remove any religion as a protected characteristic from the law.

  6. This is not a ‘secular democracy’; there is an established Church. The truth in complaints that this went against our way of proceeding may be illustrated by this line:

  9. I can’t read the article because paywall, but if this is the case I think it is it happened in 2019. And the judgement flat out does not use the fatwa. That’s a lie. Not even debatable. Read para 169 of the judgement

    I wonder why a 5 year old case is being lied about now?

  11. Deeply concerning. Anyone supporting sharia law or Islamic caliphate should be deported out of Europe, irrespective of asylum or naturalisation given. Your ideology has no place here.

  12. Separate state and religion. If the king wants to be king, he needs to stop being the head of church. He wasn’t one for centuries, shouldn’t be difficult to change again. No religion gets any kind of funding from the state. No religion is tax exempt and they are not allowed to form charities/companies to dodge the taxes. Make any kind or religious court illegal, and finally make everyone equal in front of law. Set up an official arbitration system.

    And anyone who doesn’t agree with the laws, should find a country where the laws are more to their liking and kindly fack off.

  16. it’s really silly how europeans overreact over shit like this. i literally come from a predominantly Catholic asian country with a sharia court that’s been around for decades now and guess what? after all that time, the country still has a Catholic majority and has yet to be taken over by muslims as ya’ll degradingly fear them for.
