Does anyone else think its ridiculous how the GAA present the results of the votes? Sucha bad visual representation of the results.

  1. Normal brain: Make a pie chart to represent the decision split.

GAA brain: one pie chart per option. In 3D. With a height difference.

  2. Why would anyone choose that style ? Surely a bar graph would be much easier to understand.

And If the vote needs a certain number to pass then have that line in it too

  3. The GAA is a poorly run, backward organisation whose management only contain egotistical gobshites looking for some power. They are just discovering that computers exist so we shouldn’t expect them to be able to use them yet

  4. That’s such a weird design, and it’s not just the graph. The fact the chart title (Motion 4-8) is given such small font that barely anyone could read it. That shade of blue is not great to look at (especially with a red/green chart). They should have just has the top bar with title and GAA being blue and the rest of the slide being white.

  5. Malicious compliance.
    “Make it a pie chart.”
But one of the data points is too small, you won’t see it.
    “Make it a pie chart”
    Fine.

  6. Good presentation of data is an art form in itself.
It’s so easy to make a crap visual.
This looks like somebody’s 8-year-old son who can “do” PowerPoint created it.

  7. Pie charts are a terrible way to present data. Someone there just took the terribleness of pie charts to a whole new level.

  8. Probably done by an old man who just learned how to use PowerPoint and thinks it looks cool. Kinda like what we all did in primary

  9. I think it is ridiculous the way RTE and specifically Marty Morrisey report on these GAA conferences as if they are newsworthy, they dont do it for rugby or football or any other sport. Unless there is some big controversy the administration of sports and their conferences isn’t really news but RTE always send a camera crew and fake tan man to report on it. Why even bother, if they have no GAA games to report on go and give some minority sports a bit of coverage for a change.

  10. At that point, just use a 2d bar graph or, better yet, a fucking pie chart. That has ‘graphics design is my passion’ written all over it. It’s godawful.

  11. It looks like somebody made a mistake on the scaling. I’d imagine the cylinders were meant to be taller but someone messed up a variable or something (unless the cylinders update while voting and voting was still in progress at the time the photo was taken). At the size they are currently, it would be super hard to discriminate between similar results. Either way, 3d graphs can rarely pull off looking good and being functional.

  12. Do people just see a circle and assume that’s the chart is a pie chart? So many comments criticising their choice of pie charts when they don’t even have any slices, just one colour. That’d be your hint to look closer and see the third dimension being represented
