Extreme heatwave tipped for parts of Western Australia. The Health Department has issued an extreme heatwave warning for the Kimberley and Pilbara regions, as Gascoyne Junction hit 47.5C (117.5 F ) on Friday.

  1. West Australians are being warned to brace for heatwave conditions as temperatures are expected to soar above 40 degrees Celsius from Sunday.

    While Perth is forecast to experience a cooler than average Christmas, the lead-up will be far more uncomfortable.

    Perth’s predicted maximum for Saturday is 38C, before a scorching maximum of 41C is forecast for Sunday and Monday.

    But it will be towns in north and eastern regions of WA that will be hit the hardest.
