Even though the article has a section on why this matters, it doesn’t really explain why it matters other than describing the aircraft and the taking down of a radar system. 4.5 million might sound like a lot of money for a transport aircraft, however:
> **C-130 Hercules**
> New production cost: Can vary significantly depending on the specific variant and upgrades, but generally ranges from $60 million to over $100 million per aircraft.
> **C-17 Globemaster III**
> New production cost: Around $200 million per aircraft.
Is that replacement cost or Kelly Blue book?
Weird looking aircraft, that, with the overwing engines.
4.5 million for a military aircraft is fucking cheap.
Best I can do is $1.5m
**The Plane** : “I now identify myself as a Pager” . . . . .
💥 BOOM.
Strange to run the money in the headline, isn’t it more important what capability they lost and how fast they can build a replacement?
How many countries can brag that their aircraft blow up so close to firefighting equipment? That’s so convenient.
Did it blow up or fall out a window?
4.5 million USD must mean it was a small plane or an old one.
Is it supposed to do that?
“It was meant to explode.” Probably Putin
First their steps and now their airplanes suffering a rapid unscheduled disassembly?
I could watch Russian shit blow up all day and never get bored.
4.5 million. Is it a Tiger Moth?
Did it fall out of a window?
> Russian airfields are considered legitimate military targets, but **Russian aircraft often explode** because of technical issues, especially with global sanctions making maintenance more difficult.
Lol!!
Hahaha
Ok wait… planes/jets can just spontaneously combust?
$4.5m for a military plane is pretty cheap…
4.5 million dollars seems really cheap for a military aircraft
What does a real military plane cost from this decade.
> Russian airfields are considered legitimate military targets, but Russian aircraft often explode because of technical issues, especially with global sanctions making maintenance more difficult.
Great line.
New Years fireworks are early this year. Or maybe this is the practice round?
That’s a cheap plane
Tbh a $4.5 million military aircraft just isn’t really that impressive.
Promoted to foxhole
“…. Russian airfields are considered legitimate military targets, but Russian aircraft often explode because of technical issues,….”
So likely not a military operation, just the usual Russian quality control suspected
Sabotage successful.
$4.5m honestly isn’t much for a plane.
That plane has to be worth more than 4.5 million dollars…
Joke’s on them, Igor stole at least 2m worth of parts off of the thing years ago, ant it was only worth 2.4m before the factory inflated the price. Those dummies only blew up a 100k plane!!!11!!
The game.
A Newsweek post? I don’t care what I think.
>That’s soooo weird that happened…
~Ukraine, c. 2024. Colourized.
Only 4.5 mil? So, is that the Yugo of aircraft?
Was it worth $4.5m because they packed $4.5m of explosives inside?
Oops.
Blew up their entire military trainer squadron – brutal.
*Special Disassembly Exercise
In russian villages, people still use outdoor toilets and heat their homes with firewood because they don’t have gas lines, and heating with electricity is too expensive for them. They’re probably reading this news and feeling proud that their country is so “great” that they even have helicopters.

5.4 mil for a plane? What are we talking an old WWII prop? I don’t know why the editor thought that number was supposed to be impressive.
How many Pepsi points is that?
