  6. Someone tell Trump that, countries actualy take care of ther citizens in Europe in things like, healthcare !! The 2% goal is perfectly reasonable, 2,5% is duable and preferable, 3% and above would mean cuts would have to be made in other institution budgets

  12. 2% is far, far to little in the current situation, is 4% enough? Maybe, maybe not. I don’t think 5% should be off the table.

  14. Honestly tho if he’s doing both: maintaining supplying weapons to Ukraine, and settle for 3.5% for NATO states, this is something I really can get behind with

    Many NATO states are still very ill prepared in terms of their own capabilities and not spending enough to get their defence up to speed
    The 3.5 is not only a wakeup call, but also giving govt an excuse to pump things up

    And NATO does need to prepare, or know, that US WILL shift it’s attention to China within 5 years
    It’s best to get up to speed before the big guy tags off

  15. Hmm interesting. . There were reports of Biden and Kamala rushing back to the White House this morning. . Now Trump is announcing he will continue to give military aid to Ukraine. . I hope those Russians aren’t planning something stupid.

  16. Great if he continues supplying Ukraine but let’s not forget his hand in delaying weapons for months resulting on lost men and land. Men that Ukraine sorely needs now to get that land back.

  17. 2 words: European Military. Then we only need to spend 3% of GDP and we would have a budget of around €600 billion. We get to keep our welfare states etc. This is the ONLY option, spending 5% of GDP will make us much poorer and line American pockets because we buy a lot of their weapons.

    Trump will never say this because a European Military is NOT in US interests! He wants to milk our economies, he does not want us to actually be able to talk back and be in charge of our own security.

    If EU politicians frame this right it would be an easy sell to the European populations, and the international community. We could tell the world “look, we’re stepping up like the US and Trump want us to!”. They will silently hate us because we would reduce our reliance on US weapons, **but we would also be the best and strongest damn allies they would have.**

    I’m thinking about starting a European Citizens Initiative about this as well as a national petition to get my government to talk about it.

    It would be a separate membership tier, not all 27 have to join. If it doesn’t fit within the current EU treaty and certain countries are being dicks, it could even be a separate treaty.

    **More military strength, more security, for less money! No European should disagree with this.** Of course each country should still maintain their own military police kinda like the US national guard, but an EU military just makes sense in today’s world. The only European argument I’ve ever heard against it is “it will be hard to do”.

  26. Why wouldn’t he? Europe has been getting away from Military spending for decades. I’m not from the US, but how many make fun of the US not having Medicare and many other things that Europe does. Time for those countries to start contributing.
