There is a kind of a natural reserve close to a town named Hațeg were some Bisons(Zimbru in Romanian) live. You can go and see them. They look great. It was a pleasure to see them. I just hope that the species will be saved and they can roam in the wild again in large numbers
They really are beautiful animals. I took a road trip through Canada about a decade ago and stopped for a herd of them crossing the road and remember just being in awe of their size and presence. The fact that there used to be millions more of these creatures roaming the continent is sort of crazy to think about.

Too bad the remaining forests are being cut down at an alarming rate in those Romanian mountains.
