Trouble is that this is not funny. American legislators have not had a pay raise in 15 years and the proposal was like 4%. Meanwhile they need to maintain two ‘homes’ (real one plus Washington DC) and there is the one lad talking about how much they are paying for increased security costs for their family, outside of any government protection for themselves alone.

For the record… it was a 3.8% increase, not 40%, the figure cited by Elmo. The 243k number is what they would be paid if they had received every salary adjustment since ’92.
