I think the main destabilizing factor in the East Ukraine is Russia.
Because clearly the invasion and subsequent illegal annexation of Ukrainian territory by Russia did wonders for the stability of Ukraine….

This is what Russia does. Fuck shit up, then ask innocently why anyone would be so mean to stop them bullying anyone. And as long as we’re too polite to call them out on their bullshit, this will continue. He knows we have to be nice about it and pretend Russia is telling the truth unless we have irrefutable proof that Putin says these things to manipulate the West by him saying it outright. Into microphones and a TV camera. And then the harshest response from us is a really, really strongly worded letter in which we almost – but not quite – call Russia a dick. And that’s it. Boy did we show him! Look at our diplomatically fine-tuned and polite letter telling him to please remove himself from Russia.
This is about as much as they can do now – saying something. Ukrainian leadership really wants Russia to finally enter this war. Downing an army drone over the territory not controlled by the rebel republics would be Christmas come early for these guys.
