  1. I mean don’t see the harm init however would prefer it if it was Disneyland flamingo land is good just a bit tacky if you compare it to Disney

  2. Hopefully they’ll get told to fuck off again and take the hint this time.

  3. Having grown up in the next town over it always felt that the achievements and pride in the community was in the past before deindustrialization and free trade made commodities cheaper to manufacture abroad. Like most people I know I left the area as soon as I was 19 as there was nothing there. Most who stayed have public sector jobs, commute into Glasgow or are stuck there with various social issues.

I’m barely 30 yet have attended multiple funerals for people I grew up who died unnecessarily. My other half is from bearsden next to where flamingo land’s most vocal opponent, Ross Greer is based. Her upbringing was alot more innocent and the social issues that plague towns in west Dunbartonshire seemed to be more behind closed doors where she grew up.

My understanding of flamingo land is that it is in and around the loch Lomond shores and back along the water to the balloch station. It’s not to be some tacky theme park but more cabins etc in keeping with environment. I can understand the traffic concerns though not fully as I’m not a current resident of Balloch but is there nothing that can be done about it.

I would go against the grain and say I’m in favour of them doing something, even a scaled down version. The local community has suffered a long time with decline, deprivation and unemployment/underemployment. I just wish some vocal critics could offer some alternatives that could bring job creation.

Alot of the criticism seems unfounded. They aren’t building a tacky theme park along the more beautiful parts of the loch and it seems alot of vocal critics are not from or suffer from the neglect of the area. An example of how desperate things are down in Alexandria has been the council begging Lidl to come build a supermarket in the town centre for years which surely must be up there with the worst aesthetically in the UK.

I think the greens should offer something to counter the opposition to this site. I don’t think it’s right Balloch and surrounding areas should suffer so that nimbys from Glasgow and other outside areas can go walk their dogs or whatever through the outstanding natural beauty that is the wee path from Balloch train station to the massive car park at loch Lomond shores.

  4. banned camping around the loch only to let a company take a giant shit over the same location is crazy
