Then one day you were given an opportunity to finally get out of north korea. For a greater cause.

Unlike russian volunteers, I do feel bad about these north korea soldiers. These are the people who have no choice and don’t know any better.
I dont feel bad that they’re eliminated because they’re still programmed to kill ukrainians.

I actually feel bad for the North Koreans. It has to be done. I’m not saying Ukraines doing anything wrong whatsoever. I also don’t feel bad for russian soldiers in the same way. North Korean soldiers have zero say or choice in being there. Their leadership gives zero fucks about their lives. The point of them being their is to die. It’s sick. They are there to be cannon fodder. That’s their job. It’s disgusting.

Why are the Russians employing these North Koreans this way? As some other commenter mentioned, the tactics involved lining Koreans up and marching them, without armor, across broad snowy fields in dark green uniforms. That isn’t the way the Russians have been fighting. They send lots of little units out by foot, often at night, or they send a few armored vehicles in a quick little dash to drop troops and assault Ukrainian positions. It’s like the Russians were sending the North Koreans out to get noticed and slaughtered on video. My guess is that it’s to fuel anxiety in the West that we’re slipping into WWIII. They are getting their allies killed for the impression it makes.
Clearly there aren’t enough helmets to go round. A couple are wearing caps, and one is bareheaded. I’m guessing that most aren’t wearing body armour either.
In the context of Ukraine defending itself all is good. But I do also remind myself that of all the unwilling these North Korean soldiers may be next in line after Ukraine itself. When you live in NK you do what you are ordered, or you die. Soldiers in the military are conscripted, some in fact are essentially born into it, and they serve where and when solely at the dictate of Kim. They are truly meat traded by Kim for some gain only he and putler know between themselves.
I suspect the most common emotion among these soldiers is outright terror. I also suspect it was known from the outset by leadership that few if any would return. In fact I doubt any will be allowed to return given the story they have to tell. If they are returned it will be to an isolated labor camp to finish there lives as slaves – the actual life to death existence for many North Koreans who are born into slavery in work camps, live their entire short lives as slaves and die.
