  1. Actually I think it was Rush Limbaugh and Fox News that tricked boomers into ignoring the climate crisis.

  2. >“Solving climate change requires significant changes in individual and collective behavior,” says Masashi Soga, an applied ecologist at the University of Tokyo.

There’s another part of the problem. Most people, even in the US, are on board with collective/systemic changes — as long as how they live their lives isn’t impacted. As soon as it comes to someone hearing they have to drive less, fly less, eat less meat, buy less stuff, etc., then it becomes a game of, “Why do I have to change? I’m just a meaningless individual.”

    >But it also seems wrong to suggest that individual actions — especially as larger collectives — don’t matter at all. Individuals are, after all, part of the system. We’re one of the cogs. Not nearly big enough to get things moving on our own — which is why us all “doing our bit” is not going to cut — but certainly capable of slowing things down if we’re not willing to budge.

  3. It’s a crisis! Give up your freedoms! Ban meat. Ban gas powered everything! Submit! When will the Obamas give up their five mansions and private jet? Yeah…

  4. Honestly big oil has forced this conversation.

If we just had big oil and gas cap their methane and CO2 release we could at least start slowing things down. Is anyone going after the top three offenders? Saudi, Russia and China belch oil and gas production at unprecedented rates.

At least some of the Us oil and gas jerks are subject to regulation (until Jan 2025 that is).

  5. The whole mainstream culture just reports bits on a daily basis, like puzzle pieces. Newspapers and governments are not reporting emergency!emergency!emergency! on a daily basis repeatedly as they should. No way the masses are ever going to prioritize it. Even big events in news tend get ignored due to personal issues and obligations. Of course it’s mostly ignored with this type of status quo.

  6. How the affluent controlled media tricks the poors into thinking climate change is a poor person problem when it can be solved by liquidating the rich.
