My birthday tomorrow to get out the way first. Got all the shopping done, still need to wrap Christmas gifts, some of which are perishable and still sat in the fridge waiting for last minute wrapping. Sister visiting with her kids tomorrow for a get-together with mom and brothers. She lives a good 5+ hours away, so don’t see her as often as we should, and she’ll go back home for Christmas day.
Today just killing time, will have a sort out of the house. Plans to go through the wardrobe for a clear out.
I’ve just woke up from a 10 hour sleep after doing 3 12 hour shifts in a row.
I’m going back to sleep then going shopping later. I’m not looking forward to Christmas and just can’t wait for it to be over.
Town is going to be so busy today but the last-minute shopping won’t buy itself and my hair desperately needs cutting. My plan to mitigate this is to go as early as possible, unfortunately I expect that dozens of others will also have the same idea.
Still, at least now I have plans for Christmas other than an 11 hour shift so that’s something.
Currently still in bed. Our daughter is in bed with her iPad (great parenting I know) – so it’s a nice lazy start.
Then delivering presents to my aunts, and a dog walk.
Nice cozy evening in, going to spend about 2 hours deciding which Christmas film to watch then eat 3 chocolate oranges and 2kg of after eights then fall asleep during the film. Oh and wrap a couple of presents too.
Good luck to everyone travelling today.
I’m going to do my annual panic shopping today, as I give up trying to find good gifts and resort to buying stuff no-one wants because I’ve run out of time and ideas to do anything else.
Somehow managed to finish all our Christmas wrapping yesterday, when usually we’d be only just starting so this neurodivergent is taking that as a win!
We are picking up our new puppy today as an addition to our household. Very excited.
Safe travels to anyone travelling today.
Happy Saturday, all!
I’m going to do my mum’s housework today, then get a few bits from one of the Eastern European shops on the way home, then hopefully I’ll have time to dye my hair. My flatmate’s children are coming today, so I might well still have dye on my hair when they arrive.
Good luck to those of you working in retail/hospitality!
I’ve called in sick so going to lay on the sofa, watch Christmas films and feel a bit sorry for myself.
I think everything is taken care of, so I should have NO MORE JOBS for four days. I’m off work till Jan. All I have to do is pick up the Christmas shop when they send me a text message on Monday. I expect there’s something I’ve forgotten, so if anybody knows, let me know. And don’t even think about replying to that last question with “Kevin”.
Hoping to get all my present wrapping done today. Going to a light trail tonight at a garden centre. Went last year and it was wonderful.
I was meant to be off work from today until the 6th but I swapped some shifts/holidays around at work, so now only have Christmas Day/Boxing Day/New Years Day off (I don’t mind too much as my partner is in training for a new job as well so if I was off I would have just been plodding about the house by myself).
Need to do the food shop today, still need to wrap presents- not feeling very festive this year (especially as the timing of partners new job means we will be skint until late January!).
Went out with the dog at half five and I am on my third coffee of the day. This is one of the first years I’m organised for Christmas wrapped all my presents a couple of weeks ago as was bored as the electrician was rewiring my new kitchen and my phone died. Not going to be doing much today my daughter is popping round later to pick up some gifts. My husband is grabbing the Christmas dinner stuff Monday already got our treats it’s just my husband and I this year as our grown up kids are doing their own thing they feel guilty but am looking forward to a day of peace.
I’m getting my gift to myself – a tattoo!
I’ve just had a knee replacement (13th December) at least 6 weeks off work. I am now day 8 a lot of the pain has gone so can now look foward to tv, pc, food and being waited on.. gonna be a painful but relaxing Christmas.
Grabbing a fry up then heading into town to get the last few bits
I’m working Monday and Tuesday though 😕
today my dad is coming to pick me up and i’m going to get my new car!!! v excited as i’ve had the same car for 13 years. it’s my dad’s old car, a 2018 hyundai i10 which is waaayyyy fancier inside than my old car. in my current car i can’t even open the passenger window from the driver’s side 😂
not quite ready for christmas; still got to get my nephew some toy diggers and something for my father in law. i want to get my parents some booze (we’re not buying “proper” presents in lieu of spending a day out together next year which will be good) but maybe after that i’m done… i think. i’m working on monday and tuesday so hopefully on tuesday i will feel merry!
Currently just south of Manchester sitting in a service station with a coffee on my way from London to Scotland to visit the remaining family.
Looks like Kew gardens??
Anyway, crammed family, dogs, gifts into the bulging at the seams Yeti for the family get away. We’re at the stage where a caravelle or something would make sense. Nearly had to leave my gifts at home to fit it all in!
Currently northbound and trying to suppress visions of the roof box popping open and scattering gifts across the M40…..
My deliveries are all booked, my presents are all wrapped, and I have been through the Radio Times to mark what I am watching. I think I am sorted.
I am really not feeling very “Christmassy” but I think the last time I did was around 1999, so I am not too concerned about that.
Handing the keys back to my (wonderfully now Ex) Landlord and we will be free from any and all responsibilities for the old house.
Then going to view some kittens
I’ve got to go to Glasgow Silverburn Tesco for my click and collect order. If I’m not back in 3 hours, send for help. I’m predicting carnage so I can be pleasantly surprised at anything less.
Voice well and truly lost and like busses, you go all year with none and then two. Yes ladies and gents, I have not one but two dates this weekend. I’m picking up the Christmas cheese I ordered today. It makes me feel terribly posh and old. Then I need to pack up for Christmas which involves cooking nibbles which I haven’t yet planned.
Off to Argos to get a new TV for mum. My useless and idiot brother (who lives with her as he’s basically unemployable due to being a fuckwit conspiracy theorist) had been playing around with the settings on her old one and blown out the backlight.
My garage is closed till Friday so booked my car in to get fixed then. But now debating whether to get it fixed or try to see if I can afford a new (to me) car – as I’ve spent a small fortune on fixing mine recently and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better.
I can probably take some leave from work over new year but I *need* to be able to drive by the 6th…the question is, could I manage to get a new car by then or not?
I’ll be up to my elbows in shit replacing the macerator unit behind the toilet in the guest bathroom upstairs…
Why is this getting ready for Christmas..? Well, my dear old dad will not visit for a few days unless he has his own toilet close to his room. A combination of twin knee replacements, “old age needs” and set-in-his-ways stubbornness means that I will need to confirm to him that he has a working bog of his own by end of play today otherwise he’ll cancel.
He has telephoned to check progress every day this week..
I *am* listening to Christmas tunes whilst doing the task
Sainsbury’s shop arrived and everything so I only thing we need to get now is the fresh veg on monday.
Just need to get a couple of small presents for the OH and one for him from the dog then this afternoon will be wrapping time.
Only me and OH for christmas but we have enough food for a family of 4.
Off until January but I will check my emails and I have some projects pending but I can do that on the sofa drinking Gin over Christmas
I am too full from a chippy tea yesterday evening
Wrapping done. Having a small pre-Christmas dinner at our place tomorrow, because it just feels right.
I’ve just gotten over that dreaded cold that everyone has, which is great timing! Very busy today. Dog walk, watching our daughter do a gymnastics performance, going to see my little mermaid at the theatre, dinner, then our friends are coming over for the boxing.
Working
Meeting family for breakfast, then meeting family to drop present then meeting family to drop presents then meeting friends to drop presents then meeting friends to drop present. We’ve stacked as much as we could into one busy day so we can have nothing to do until Christmas day now
Taking the kids to see Santa plus some rides and such like. They are excited, I’m more excited by sausage and mash with cauliflower cheese later.
Heading out for a run soon. Today was helping a friend move house but it’s been delayed a week, I’m busy next week. I’m working on a post grad paper today, gym and seeing friends tonight. Pretty easy going day.
I’ve got a cold, so today’s plan is to try to rest up so I’m not rough as toast over Christmas.
I’m planning on binging the latest Taskmaster series in bed.
I had my brave pill and am now heading towards the supermarket for the food shopping
Going to the cinema to see sonic 3. loved the last 2 movies so I can’t wait
Been ready 2/3 weeks. Very busy all over Xmas so today is the Xmas catch up “with the lads” in the pub. Probably 2pm til the pub shuts kebab and then a biiiig lay in in the morning
I’ve just been to get the Christmas veg from Aldi.
Everything’s sorted for the big day itself but we’re going back again this evening to do the other food shopping for the rest of the week. It’s only me and my husband this year so we’ll likely not have that many leftovers and don’t want to have to rush to the shops as soon as they open again.
Morning all, hope you’re well.
I’m just finishing breakfast and then need to pop out to deliver some Christmas cards on behalf of a local organisation I volunteer for. Then home to clean my flat (which I keep putting off but really need to do) and hopefully squeeze in a bit more sewing before heading off to my regular board games meetup this afternoon.
Have a good day everyone, and for those braving the shops may the retail gods be kind to you!
Off to work. Its retail but it doesn’t get chaotic and hellish here like a lot of shops do. If anything it’ll be tumbleweed again, judging by how the last fortnight has been. Probably just dad’s with their kids just to get them out of the house.
Not feeling Christmassy at all tbh, too worried and stressed and feeling ill from the worry and stress.
