  1. I don’t like Zuckerberg, but this is loser talk. I’m sure he pays more in taxes than almost any other person in the country, maybe besides Elon Musk

  2. Yet people with 3 nickels to their name will keep voting to make sure he never has to pay a single dime more

  3. Historically there are two broad paths. Either the elites recognize this, and reform (via some redistribution mechanism). Think FDR. Or they don’t, and you get revolution, the last resort, think French.

Either way, when inequality reaches a boiling point, the system becomes unstable.

Now, historically revolutions are sustained and instigated by an elite adjacent class, namely, a class with some education like the professional class. The Russian revolution was elite instigated and perpetrated. The French, also to a great extent.

The lower classes tend to revolt but not organize their discontent.

In today’s age, many are pacified and neutered by systems that satisfy base desires (think the internet/junk food/entertainment).

These systems are the buffer between turning mass discontent into political action.

The elites are counting on these systems to extend the process of widening the wealth differential indefinitely.

Finally, in the US, the media apparatus is an arm of power. This doesn’t mean they don’t report the weather and accidents. This means that when the stakes are high or brush with power, they protect the interests of power.
