EU backs Moldova with €60M amid Putin’s gas squeeze

  1. That’s about 1 week worth of gas consumption but given that Moldova will have to purchase at the current premium rate on the spot market rather than a contract purchase, that will be about 4.5 days worth of gas consumption.

The sensible thing for Moldova do to is to negotiate with Gazprom and take the 25% discount offered. Moldova’s pro EU government wants to excercise independence and an anti Russian foreign policy. That is completely fine and it’s their prerogative, however they should not expect Russia to maintain preferential access they had before. They want to have their cake and eat it.

  2. So, customer does not pay $730,000,000 fees and fines for late payment.

Customer demands 30% discount on future supplies or does not pay.

Customer continues to buy product from competition at full market price

Customer, Uses media to vilify supplier for not supplying products at lower than cost price

Customer refuses to contract when prices were low and is now stuck between a rock and a hard place,

But the supplier is the bad guy.
