My first beer from an Austrian brewery and I have to say it was very enjoyable. Which other Austrian breweies should I look out for?

  1. Wasn’t bevog founded by slovianes escaping the bureaucracy of Slovenia (!) – which makes the beer, technically Slovenian?

  2. Are you looking for porters, or good Austrian (craft) beer in general? What do you want in a beer? Any non-Austrian beers you’d like to find beers of similar in taste?

  3. BrewAge: Affenkönig is a terrific imperial pale ale.

Schleppe No.1 is a fantastic American style pale.

Should try a zwickl if you haven’t. I’d suggest Stiegl’s Paracelsus Bio-Zwickl or Villacher makes a good one too.

Trumer Pils or Hirter Pils are my favorite pilsners.

Hirter Morchl: a good dark roast makes this one of my favorite winter time beers.

Honestly, there aren’t many bad ones here.

  4. Trappistenbrauerei Stift Engelszell make some excellent Trappist beers, if you like the the general style of beer (dubbel, tripel, etc)
