Hi everyone. Can someone tell me what this is? It looks like mold. I found it underneath the raditors in an apartment i have purchased.

If so, is it toxic? How can I handle this? Im an expat and do not have much knowledge of home maintenance yet :/

Dank je wel.

  1. Looks like constuction foam, but I am not familiar with this green color in the photo.

    What is the stucture like?

If it is foam you can cut it away with a type of knife like a breadknife.

  2. Looks more like isolating material.  The mold you find in walls /floors is usually black (😭) or white.  Not so often green and foamy like this.

  3. That’s the household secret stash. Don’t tell anyone and have a good smoke!

  4. Not mold, looks like isolation material or some type of green polyurethane foam spray (foam that expends after applying it on cracks and seams between walls/floor).

  5. Thats 100% not mold. It looks like insulation material. Given the location on both images leads me to believe its the insulation material under the laminate flooring you’re standing on.

As to why its sticking up like that? Anyones guess. Could be that the are got wet and the material absorbed the water and therefore expanded? Could also be that the person who laid the flooring (and insulation material) was lazy and didnt feel like cutting out the excess. This could also be the case given that there is no skirting along the edge where the wall and flooring meet
