UK faces EU fine over Chinese imports fraud

  1. It found that more than half of all textiles and footwear imported into the UK from China were below “the lowest acceptable prices”.

    Lowest acceptable to who?

  2. This is rather “old news”. The new part is that the court concluded the final ruling of the UK-failures from 2011 to 2017.

  3. I am waiting to see when Spain is also found to be doing this. It’s been widely accepted that a load of ebay, aliexpress, gearbest, bangood etc etc kit is coming through Spain and other 2 or 3 countries completely skipping customs somehow.

  4. I don‘t know how, but there may have been a Hong Kong former crown colony loophole somewhere. I bought some carbon fiber rims from China and they ended up being shipped from the UK. Pretty sure no duty was paid by them, and as the UK was in the EU at that time, I didn‘t pay import duty either.

  5. That was pretty visible at the time, since many cheap chinese products could be bought in uk at an incredibly low price. The thing is now widespread though.
