BAe’s shipyard at Govam, Glasgow is being expanded with a new build hall that can accommodate two Type 26 Frigates. The existing build hall is too small, and the ships have to be rolled outside after a certain point and built in the open. Having the new hall should ease construction, which can then take place in all weathers in a controlled environment. Of course the old hall is still there and available so it’s a significant expansion in capability for the yard.
I used to serve in the mob, and all these new ships look gash for a social on the upper deck. Type 22’s were great, type 23’s had some stick but I liked them, you can run around the upper deck. And lots of hiding and sunbathing places. I know the newer ships are obviously designed with RCS in mind but they just don’t excite me. I’ll cheers dits myself on the way out thank you
