1. It would be nice if they overthrow Putin. That would buy us another 20 to 40 years before we have to deal with Russia again.

11. I think he’s desperately trying to gain advantage and hold land prior to Trump taking office, on hopes that he can negotiate from a position of strength and hold on to whatever land Russia has siezed.

    Creating political boundaries on the north /west side of the Dnipro would be long term unstable without the very significant physical boundary the wide river offers. If Russia digs in north of the river before a cease fire, there aren’t many obstacles stopping a future advance north.

12. Ukraine will never negotiate. They will fight with sticks and stones if they have to.
