  1. What they mean is that the Syrian state will systematically dismantle Rojava and the SDF, enact violence against anyone who refuses to comply, and will make repeated assurances of “coexistence” and “equality” while the only concrete policies it enacts will be to remove the Kurds’ ability to protect themselves in case the state’s vague assurances don’t translate into proper action. Somehow the SNA doesn’t seem like it’s going to have to worry about “state control” of its weaponry for the time being

Im still holding out hope that we see a free Syria. But thus far there hasn’t been any effort whatsoever to incorporate Kurdish input into Syrian governance. No one has as much of a right to determine the fate of the Kurdish people as the Kurds themselves. al-Jolani or ash-Sharaa or whatever he calls himself these days has to acknowledge that fact, and the interim fovernment must act accordingly, or else this is just one more oppressive regime that will ultimately fail not just the Kurds, and no just Syria’s myriad minority groups, but all Syrians

  2. “Fidan told the press conference that US president-elect Donald Trump knew better than to continue Washington’s backing for the Kurdish-led fighters over supporting the security needs of its NATO ally Turkey.”

Firstly; this is all that this is about. Secondly; the IAF destroyed most if not all the major weapons systems held by the SAA. Furthermore HTS dosn’t have any pilots or access to Russian equipment still there so Its not clear what national weapons he is talking about. Thirdly the SDF is ~67% Arab not Kurdish. The Kurds play a major part but it’s a majority Arab group.

IMO HTS is just ISIS Lite that have gotten international backing for various reasons. They only care about power maintenance and is why they have literally said nothing about the IAF daily bombings and IDF invading and occupying Syrian land. Possibly to get their status as a terrorist organisation and bounties on the leadership removed.
