Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that Belarus and Moscow have many common interests and Belarus counts on even closer cooperation with the Russian capital.
“It is nearby, we share kin and culture with this city. Our people go there in droves every year, they love such trips. Many go to Moscow during the New Year period to take pictures in certain locations. I support this, I am very glad about it and I suggest that of all high-speed railway construction projects the president of Russia prioritize the route through Minsk to Brest – a sacred place for Russians and Belarusians, Ukrainians, all the peoples of the Soviet Union. I think that sooner or later (I have no doubts about it after visiting the UAE) Europe will open up to us. Europe cannot exist without Russia, it cannot exist without us, so we need good high-speed routes, so that Belarusians can quickly reach Moscow and vice versa,” the president said.
