RTP has announced the split of the competing composers and artists in Festival da Canção 2025 across its two Semi-Finals.
The Portuguese broadcaster RTP has held the Semi-Final allocation draw for Festival da Canção 2025. The draw took place on December 20 with the composers and artists being drawn at random. The draw only determined the Semi-Final the acts will compete in and not the order they will perform.

The 20 songs will initially compete in two semi-finals, which will be held on February 22 and March 1, 2025, before the Grand Final of Festival da Canção on March 8, 2025. The winning entry will represent Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland in May next year. No information has been released by RTP to date about the competing songs.
The winning song will represent Portugal at Eurovision 2025, succeeding the winning song of Festival da Canção 2024, “Grito”. “Grito”, performed by Iolanda, qualified for the Grand Final at Eurovision 2024 in Malmö, Sweden, finishing in 10th place overall.

Portugal debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1964 represented by António Calvário. The country finished last scoring nul points. Prior to 2017, the best result of Portugal was 6th place which came in 1996 when Lúcia Moniz performed in Oslo. She scored 92 points, receiving 12 points from both Norway and Cyprus. Since their debut, Portugal have missed a total of five contests. In 2017, Portugal produced a spectacular win when Salvador Sobral took home the crystal microphone with his song “Amar pelos dois”. The 2018 contest was held in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon for the first time.
