  1. Really cringe.

The police should not be firing people over private messages.

  2. I heard dark humour is needed in the force to make light of literally the worst scenes thinkable and to desensitize them to it so they can physically do the job. After all they are human and have emotions too and if they succumbed to said emotions they’d start making mistakes. Maybe this is that?

  3. Ffs. They didn’t share pictures of corpses. The article states clearly that the picture in question was of the death/ crime scene after the body was removed.
Saying that it’s pretty obvious you’d get sacked for anything like this.
The only curious bit is that one officer could not be named because of an anonymity order.

  4. I don’t have much sympathy for these officers. They have been warned time and time again not to behave in such a manner.

  5. Does not suprise me. Our police force is an absolute shamble.

  6. I’m not bothered about the comments about the deceased. Dark humour is a coping mechanism and the comments were made in reference to a photo of the scene after the body was removed. We’ve all joined in or heard dark humour at some point, jokes about tragedies or murders etc. While it’s distasteful, it’s also human, and since it was a private forum I think it’s absolutely fine. They should not be fired for that.

But, the chat also contained sexist and racist comments. There is no place in a civilised world where that is appropriate.

Fire them all, and prosecute their racist, sexist bullshit. And publish the comments with the sender’s names. Make an example of them and teach the rest of the country that this isn’t ok, especially those in public service and law enforcement.
