In this golden age of video games and comic book movies, experts say tabletop gaming has been “pulled along” into the mainstream and is currently enjoying a “renaissance” in the UK.

  1. It looks like OP posted an AMP link. These should load faster, but AMP is controversial because of [concerns over privacy and the Open Web](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmputatorBot/comments/ehrq3z/why_did_i_build_amputatorbot).

Maybe check out **the canonical page** instead: **[https://news.sky.com/story/tabletop-gaming-the-geeky-hobby-thats-a-billion-pound-industry-and-lifeline-for-those-seeking-friendship-13265948](https://news.sky.com/story/tabletop-gaming-the-geeky-hobby-thats-a-billion-pound-industry-and-lifeline-for-those-seeking-friendship-13265948)**

  2. I’ve wanted to get the game Ransom Notes for the longest time because it looks so fun, but I’m not willing to pay £30 for a board game

  3. It’s been absolutely marvellous for those of us who own shares in Games Workshop, certainly. The pandemic seems to have given the industry a solid boost.

  4. I enjoy it as it’s just a more social experience than video games, and if you’re going to get some mates together for some beers then it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than going to the pub and more interactive than just putting the TV or a movie on.

  5. It’s probably my mates as it seems they’ve spent about £69million on Warhammer the last few years.

  6. I think this will be temporary, GW rule sets go through ‘editions’ (one or two year cycles) and they have MASSIVLEY fumbled the bag some years, the game is apparently alright now (10th edition) but I fell out with the earlier rule sets and almost my entire 12+ gaming group did too. Simply put the 5 hour games became utterly boring and the results pre-determined by army composition rather than game actions.

I believe there was also an ‘incident’ in 9th edition at a pretty high level of competition, the rules were so unbalanced in favor of one player he simply took his turn (1st turn), destroyed 99% of his opponents army, passed turn to his opponent who conceded without taking a single action.

If the game plays like that again all these new fans dropping £2k on plastic are going to be pretty annoyed it’s not actually fun to play.

  7. Pubs and bars are to expensive.

Buy some bottles at the shop for a fraction of the price and have mates come round for a tabletop game.

I played wakanda monopoly the other week.
Some weird takes on games nowadays.
