James Bond as a franchise is just dead. Who wants that crap anymore? It’s rehashed garbage, it’s like Mission Impossible without as many impressive stunts.
Give up already. Come back to it in 20 years.
I hate everything bro. We cant have shit no more
I would have liked a show with the established characters from the end of the last set of films, with bond “dead” in universe let some of the other 00 agents do something for once.
Bond has always chased trends but to chase the shared universe trend so late in the game seems like folly. They can’t even nail a single script most of the time so how would a universe improve their method?
The broccolis and Amazon are a terrible partnership. I would honestly like to see bond with another set of producers.
I’m almost certain that an Amazon-made Bond movie would literally just be a Jason Bourne or Mission Impossible movie but with slightly more British actors.
There’s really only two routes they can take. They could rely on nostalgia and make a stylized homage to the Cold War era of Bond films or they can figure out how to do something entirely new and introduce the character and lore to a new generation. I don’t know how anyone could possibly do the latter.
I just wish they’d make Bond an interesting character in the movies again.. Gimme another Bond movie that shapes him up be to be a borderline psychopath.
A shared universe only really works when you already have a stable of established standalone characters.
Amazon touching anything makes it wither and die. But, just as the body of an animal will support all kind of new life with its death, so too will Bond and other “content catalogs” help the scurrying Amazon beetles swarm in pseudo activity and bask in the warmth of the rotting flesh its surrounded itself with.
The issue with this is there really isn’t room for a shared universe, it just becomes a slightly more fantastical earth. James Bond is a great movie character. He doesn’t have the backround or lore to sustain anything more. They tried giving some to Craig and it was easily the worst parts of the last 5 movies. Bond is a simple character who has to solve complex situations. Also, his movies work because they’re not content. The music, Bond girls, and locales are cool because they are always special and exciting. Trying to do this for a universe will lose all fun. Hell, the last 10 years of bond has been bad enough
I don’t like how Broccoli has handled Bond lately and Amazon is even worse. Bond deserves better. It would be nice it if was a TV mini series with Bond but also other 00s and it builds on some lore but then again Bond was much better without any real continuity and the movies are stand alone
Make it into a series. With different 00 folks. So you can see the inner workings. Pre bond. Prequel style. It would kill. And folks won’t compare it to anything cause … it will be omg original.
I want to see the adventures of Moneypenny
Just keep it with the Broccolis. At least they’re trying to protect the IP. Amazon just wants to exploit it for all it’s worth until no one likes it anymore. They want to blled it dry. I’m fine with getting a bond movie every few years.
Why do corporate blokes only want to milk franchises for the commercial value of it rather than having it for an artistic and cultural purpose.
“James Bond accidentally plows through a concert at Taylor Swifts Eras tour, while fighting Deadpool, but she barely misses a beat”- no bad ideas.
It’s an interesting challenge, to create the JBCU. We have watched it absolutely fail with what Sony is trying to do with Spider-Man. But there are cautiously optimistic versions, like the John Wick Extended Universe. Certainly we are seeing it with the Batman Without Batman shows. With 007 you’d have to extend to the other clandestine spy agencies. You’d have a show from the Megalomaniac’s POV – Teen Blofield, say. You’d have Blofield’s Cat in a show for kids. Yes, Moneypenny would get her own Sex & the Spy Agency series, where she dates a series of spies before realizing that she wants to be a spy herself. You’d have a buddy-spy series where the rash, reckless spy is being mentored by the spy about to hit retirement. Then you’d have a trio of James Bond, Jason Bourne and Jack Bauer in a show where their approaches all clash with one another. And then of course you would have the tentpole movie that comes out every few years, the PayPerView, as it were. I mean, there’s lots of things you could do with the franchise. I’m just not sure that they should do this. But look at the Spider-Man and Batman CUs. Has it diminished love for those characters? Not really. I am cautiously optimistic.
lol this ageles man has like… 20 movies? Has it not been “content”d enough? A new one every few years is fun. A new one every week would suck ass
If the Bond franchise survived havjng a Saturday Morning Cartoon called James Bond Jr, it’ll survive this as well.
Some of the books are kinda good tho, my cousin says. He liked the new one about King Charles’ coronation. Maybe they will film that one.
What a great idea! We could have all sorts of movies and TV shows featuring lesser British agents. I’ve always wanted to see a day in the life of agent 027.
Jaws and Oddjob would make for a great lighthearted “buddy henchmen” comedy spin off series!
Maybe a nerdy hacker comedy featuring young Q!
Also, the success of HBO’s Penguin demonstrates that there is absolutely room in the world for a Blofeld limited series, showing us the character’s journey from an ambitious Polish national to a supervillain bend on world domination!
Actually, we don’t need any of that. The shared universe bandwagon is really annoying, everybody is trying to chase Marvel’s former success, and it hasn’t really been working out great. Hasn’t even been working for Marvel lately. Does anybody actually still care about James Bond? Surely not enough to warrant something like this.
Shits dogshit. Fuckin SHIT!
Expanding the franchise makes financial sense.
However, they aren’t allowed to which makes the argument moot.
