  7. Considering this from their perspective, the US is proactively arming many smaller nations in their hemisphere while China has been trying to project regional hegemony. I get why they’re bothered by it, China believes it has a right in a multipolar system to be a regional hegemon, and surely they do. The US also has an interest in preventing landgrabs and seagrabs that can compromise economic partners, and a right to protect that interest by selling weapons and providing term support.

  8. They’ve been steadily having a pissing match around the Scarborough Shoal with the Philippines for a while now, they just need an axe to grind because they’re not backing down.

    I mean, their coast guard fired water cannons at a patrol vessel a few weeks back – you’re moving into FAFO territory, how about just not being a dick?

  11. i sincerely doubt this will happen since anything US is expensive for us, even on a discount or as a freebie.. hell, even cheap West-aligned alternatives (defence product suppliers) are expensive for us and whatever we do acquire is either underspecced and/or suboptimal quantity.

    i just really wish we were like 30% less corrupt even if only to better sustain our national security/armed forces.

  23. The island nation has purchased many military weapons to fight against China’s invasion. Recent weapon Sellers were weapon makers from the US and South Korea. China’s naval fleets have threatened the Philippines’ maritime, with the man-made island for the PLA, so the present leader Marcos doesn’t have any options right now. According to the related military news, the current government of the Philippines will purchase more warships and jet fighters from the USA and South Korea. Of course, the target is the PLA’s naval fleets. Moreover, the US will donate big bucks to the Philippines to buy many weapons. The island nation would become a local dark horse in Asia’s military power soon.

  25. This article is the best example of how not only the russians but also the chinese have infiltrated legitimate western media very deeply (so deep they are able to install their internal narratives to external audiences).

    There is no reason to report on china being angry at anything of this type, yet there is this article, wonder who and why someone would write such a non event as an “international news”.
