I remember when Royal mail used to be respected, look at it now
Not as bad as UPS. Delivery driver came and I was shouting to him as he left with the parcel to his van so he could drop it off at a pick up site
He just ignored me
They all do it. At least Royal Mail are catching up with the others now. Parcel handed to occupant being the most commonly fake record put against it.
That’s willful Delay of Mail. That used to be a crime within the Royal Mail. Well, it was when I worked for them 20 years ago
I thought Royal Mail had been faking deliveries for years. I have changed my schedule in order to be at home for when Royal Mail tell me to deliver and unfortunately they never show me the same courtesy as they either deliver a couple of hours after the time slot they told me finishes or send a text saying they tried to deliver but I wasn’t home. I know for sure they didn’t try and deliver to my door as I checked the CCTV.
I complained to them about this and just general bad service (just a couple of weeks ago the postman went down the street and delivered all the mail to the next door along) and tried to escalate it to the highest level but the response I got seemed to suggest it was just the way things were and they showed no desire to address it or try and approve. They are out of touch. I know private courier companies have a bad rep but my experience is they are much more reliable. They give me a 1 or 2 hour time slot (vs Royal Mail 4 hour) and deliver within the slot. I always opt for a private courier when I have a choice or it isn’t a lot more expensive.
The Royal Mail where the price goes up as the service goes down…
No surprise. My building has complained, we haven’t had post in over a week!
The £200 bonus that the posties get isn’t even really a performance related bonus … it’s a payment to ensure no annual leave or sick leave is taken in December.
The entire parcel delivery sector needs some serious regulation. Every company involved is basically scamming people who have no choice but to use one of them. It’s like trying to work out what bit of the shit sandwich to bite.
Yep they have told us about 4 times they tried to deliver our parcel but i was stood outside when they came and got handed a letter and thats it. Phoned the local sorting office and they just doubled down and hung up when i told them i literally spoke to the postie and that lying is wrong and completely unacceptable.
I’ve had the same Royal Mail post operative for getting on 10-years now and everytime they have a parcel they post a “sorry, we missed you” card.
I recently heard Royal Mail was sold and I fear the service is about to get even worse.
That’s what happens when the targets are so unrealistic and the bonus is almost required to make a wage. Again it’s facts and figures taking precedence over actual customer satisfaction.
I reckon they’ll be set up for not delivering it. I had an accident at work and was off work with couple of broken bones. Rather than pay me compensation, they tried setting me up with willful Delay. So, I quit.
When the last of the old school postmen leave/retire then Royal Mail will truly be toast. The 50+ year olds dreaming of VR with 25+ years service still running around, coming in early, and working their breaks are the ones keeping Royal Mail upright.
I’m a Postie. This stuff in the media is barely the tip of the shitberg. It’s an utter disgrace how shit things are now.
I have my own duty, which I love. Love the job and my customers. But I cannot actually complete my duty on a busy day (or any day in December) now due to the excessive workloads they continue throwing onto us.
Last week, I literally delivered no mail, except to people who ordered parcels because I could just bundle the mail to them.
Managers don’t care at all about letters and it is going downhill fast.
I spoke to my MP about this recently and she agrees that something needs to be done.
The government must renationalise the letters arm of Royal Mail ASAP, or it will collapse and they’ll have to bail it out anyway.
They may aswell forget about renstionalising the parcels side of it… It’s far too profitable for the greedy fucks to let go of.
