Latvian member of parliament volunteers for Ukraine

  1. On a personal level I respect his choice to do this. On a political/national level, however, it’s an elected MP fucking off abroad, putting down his elected mandate and head of commissions, to fight a war we’re only *supporting* one side in.

We need our MP’s to work towards making our country better, not for them to go and fight wars (abroad). Very shitty politics from this dude, our democracy is more important than his own personal wish to do more for Ukraine.

  2. Should be actual professional soldiers that are sent to this war, not politicians.

I can’t believe 2022 is making me say this sentence.

Personally, huge respect. But also I think the situation is just so twisted, this is not how it’s supposed to go. This is not supposed to be his best option to make a change.

  3. So long as he apologises to his constituents and has a bi-election in his constituency there’s no harm caused. Brave, brave man.
